Within the Bundeswehr the Iltis was used in three basic variants. One of these variants is SAN light truck for the medical mission kit. If the stretcher carriers are installed the vehicle can transport two wounded patients on stretchers with a crew of two (driver and medic). Kit features an extended soft top that stretches over the rear of the vehicle. Spare wheel mount moved from the rear to right side.
